Individually and Together

Each summer between fifty and eighty students from all over the world graduate from our institute, and just as many new students come to Kassel to train as social assistants, educators or curative educators.
There are about 200 students training and studying at our institute. Every one is equally important. It is our intent to respect each one’s individuality and to offer space for individual development. Not all the students are always at the institute at the same time. For example, the educators in year three are only here three weeks out of the year. Nevertheless: the abundance of different people from diverse cultural backgrounds come together at our institute und form a community.
Each year it is an exciting process for the teaching staff to observe how the new communities form, how relationships of various kinds and depth form. Plenty of friendships for life are forged.
It is important and characteristic for everyday life at the institute to form communities as a class, as staff, as an institute. We focus on consciously forming and shaping social processes when forming a community.
